COMBINE／BAMI galleryでは、新年第一弾の企画としてグループ展「馬力展」を開催いたします。
本展は、“午”というモチーフを共通の題材としてあえて据え、前進や躍動の象徴である午の姿に、私たちの新しい年への思いを重ねています。
迎える年は「丙午（ひのえうま）」──60年に一度巡る、陽火の気が強く立ち上がる特別な午です。燃えるような勢いを帯びたこの象徴は、静かな原野を押し広げ、まだ道のない場所へ踏み出す跳躍の瞬間を想わせます。
今回の企画では、ギャラリーからあえて“午”という題材を提示し、普段の制作では選ばれにくいモチーフに、各作家がどのように向き合い、解釈し、越えていくのかを、ひとつの挑戦としてお願いしています。蓄積してきた技法や視点が、この新しい題材に触れることでどのような変容や発火点を迎えるのか──その創造の飛躍に強い期待を寄せています。
午のしなやかな身体性と前へ進む意志に寄り添いながら、“馬力”が本来示す、重いものを押し出す力、見えないエネルギーの蓄積にも静かに思いを向けています。作品が生まれる瞬間に宿る脈動や、未知へ踏み込もうとする意志は、数値に換算できない“生きた馬力”として午のイメージと共鳴しながら空間へ広がっていきます。
その力が、午が駆けるときに生じる蹄音のように響き合うとき、新しい一年の歩みを静かに、しかし確かに押し出す手応えを感じていただけるのではないかと思います。
本展は、COMBINE／BAMI gallery が新年の初動として発する最初のメッセージであり、“午”という共通題材を通して、アーティストとともに創造の熱と力をさらに押し広げていきたいという私たちの抱負をにじませる展覧会となります。◆出品作家／釜匠、松本央、岡部賢亮、公庄直樹、小橋順明、佐野曉、阿部瑞樹
COMBINE/BAMI Gallery is pleased to present
“Horsepower Exhibition” as our first project of the new year.
In this exhibition, we deliberately set “the Horse (Wu)” as a shared motif,
an emblem long associated with forward movement and vital momentum.
By embracing this symbol, we place our hopes and aspirations for the coming year
into the figure of the Horse.
The approaching year is Hinoe-Uma (Bingwu)—
a special cycle that appears only once every sixty years,
when the vigorous energy of Yang Fire rises strongly.
This fiery sign evokes a force that pushes across quiet plains,
suggesting the very moment one leaps into an uncharted path.
By presenting “the Horse” as a theme from the gallery side,
we invited each participating artist to confront, interpret,
and even surpass a motif they may not ordinarily choose.
We are deeply interested in how their accumulated methods and perspectives
might transform or ignite anew when encountering this unfamiliar subject—
and in the creative leap that may emerge from it.
Alongside the Horse’s supple physicality and its will to move forward,
we also reflect on what “horsepower” originally signifies—
a force capable of pushing weight,
an accumulation of invisible energy.
The pulse that appears in the moment a work is born,
and the intention to step into the unknown,
manifest here as a kind of “living horsepower,”
gently expanding through the space in resonance with the image of the Horse.
When this energy comes together,
echoing like the sound of hooves breaking into a run,
we hope visitors will sense a quiet yet unmistakable push
toward the first steps of a new year.
This exhibition serves as the first message
COMBINE/BAMI Gallery sends out at the beginning of the year—
an expression of our aspiration
to widen the field of creation together with the artists,
through the shared motif of the Horse.

陶という重さを持つ素材に平面的な軽さを与えて、立体と平面の間に揺れる像を作りたいと考えました。絶妙なバランスで成り立つ世界、実在と虚構が入り混じる境目を造形として立ち上げたいです。ご高覧いただけますと幸いです。
I wanted to give a sense of lightness to the heavy material of clay, creating an image that wavers between the three-dimensional and the flat.
Through this, I hope to shape a world sustained by a delicate balance—where reality and illusion intertwine at their boundary.

それは現代を生きる私たちの姿を映し出したものだ。
それはゆらゆらと水面を揺蕩いながらも変容し生きていく私たちの姿だ。
個人と社会、国籍や性別、あらゆる思想や価値観が日々多様化し混沌とする中で、
私たちは自分のかたちをどう見出していくのだろうか。
液体であり乾くと固体でありながら液体のようでもある漆とは塗るたびに変容していく、
まさに我々の姿かたちそのものである。
私は人間の変容の物語を生み出したい。
It reflects the way we live in the present age.
It is the image of ourselves, drifting and shimmering on the water’s surface, yet constantly transforming and continuing to live.
Amid the ever-diversifying and chaotic mix of individuals and societies, nationalities and genders, thoughts and values—
how do we discover the shape of our own being?
Lacquer, which is fluid yet becomes solid when dry—and still retains a liquid nature—transforms with each application;
it is, in essence, a mirror of ourselves.
I wish to create stories of human transformation.
